Carole Edwards was poorly and could not attend her appointment as the speaker at our October meeting. However, Lynne did a grand job, and an able replacement was found and Sam Wadey informed and entertained us by talking about and displaying succulents. These background members of the plant world rarely take centre stage yet appeared quite fascinating. Sam’s passion was contagious and after the talk there was large crowd admiring the display of succulents Sam had brought along. If you are lucky enough to access ‘The Newt’ at any time, pay more attention to the plants in the greenhouse with the fish and papyrus. Some, if not most of them will be succulents.
Before Sam’s talk there was information and menus for our Christmas dinner (7pm for 7.30pm, Tuesday 9th Dec at the Cross Keys) and seed catalogues and forms were distributed, but please contact Simon if you didn’t manage to pick one up.
