In July Tim Parker, in his role as Head Gardener at the National Trust gem that is Stourhead, came to Lydford to talk to us. He had the unenviable task of following Alan Power as custodian and guru of that estate, and that was a fairly serious ‘ask’. However, Mr. Parker proved to be a thoroughly decent chap who knew his stuff and could have given chapter and verse about the 2,650 acres of Hoare’s legacy. It cannot be an easy task in the days of climate change and trees maturing and dying to keep iconic locations looking iconic.
There was no meeting in August.
