The Gardening Club barbecued in September. As is traditional in such situations the weather forecast was not good. E-mails flew, ‘pinging’ their way between the tired and ageing electronic devices of the committee members. Options were considered, suggestions made yet in the tradition evidenced by the recent V.J. Day commemorations, it was decided that the show must go on. Members gathered at the unusually early time of 18.00, sausages were cooked, some more than others, and a most enjoyable evening was created. Produce was swapped. Notable amongst the vegetables on show were some excellent pumpkins and George deserves great praise for his green-fingered efforts. The atmosphere inside the Parish Hall was warm and supportive and this was enhanced by the home-made fruit crumble and cream which satisfied the pudding pouches of those who had spaces to fill.
